Whoopsies!

Looks like the fall got away from me and I became "that" person who doesn't blog for weeks and months (sorry, Dave).  So here is a recap of August through October, and I don't promise that it will be quick.  Come back to read if you really can't spare the time.

First up, fall sorority recruitment.  You can't see me in this pic b/c I look like a college student, right?  Right ;)  This was the great group of girls I got to work with for 2 weeks straight.  I think I already blogged about that experience ?? so I'll move on.  Basically this consumed the end of August and the first two weeks of September for me.

Next came the viewing of the Bachelorette.  I did not love Emily from the beginning, but being the hopeless romantic that I am, I always root for a good love story with a happy ending.  I know I should know by now that this is HIGHLY unlikely on this tv show, but a girl can still hope.  And you better believe I'm holding out hope for our boy Sean in this spring's Bachelor.  There have been crazier things to happen!   On a side note, I think someone purchased me a subscription to US weekly.  Randomly, one Saturday it was in my mailbox with my weekly People subscription and I have no one to thank.  If you know who sent it, tell them thanks!!!
Most of September was filled with long nights working, but I managed to squeeze in some great football on the weekends with season tickets to see both Louisiana Tech and TCU!  We are beginning to get really good at the tailgating scene.
Here I am with my Panhellenic President and Recruitment Chair.  Long nights helped us to get really close!  I seriously consider these girls some of my close friends.
Tailgating at the first "cold snap" of the fall.  These are the Wedgewood girls whom I adore!
One of the events I helped with through work was part of Panhellenic's Women's Week event.  We co-hosted two amazing speakers on campus.  If you haven't ever read Picking Cotton, I highly recommend it.  It is the story of a woman who was raped while in college and wrongfully accused a man for the offense.  After spending 11 years in prison and through the use of DNA evidence, he was released and pardoned. They tell their story of forgiveness and healing ... talk about POWERFUL!!!  We were lucky enough to spend some time with them both that day and learn more about them.  What a unique experience!!!

In the midst of the first quarter craziness, I was still able to throw up fall decorations and of course, frequent Super 1 for their delicious honey crisp apples.  I never get tired of celebrating the fall even though it passes me by in a whirlwind.

Thanks to Hurricane Isaac the La Tech/Texas A&M game got reschedule and we of course attended in Shreveport.
Our tailgate group in Shreveport.  Grayson cooked tortilla soup for everyone.
We enjoyed spending a long weekend with my parents, Matthew/Erin and E.  We made time to hit up the boats and "make a little money", we had a delicious breakfast at "Another Broken Egg Cafe" and we enjoyed some sibling/university rivalry before the big game.  The weather was beautiful and E had such a fun time and was a real trooper, staying up for the ENTIRE game!

We just got back from celebrating homecoming in Fort Worth.  We actually got to see a lot of friends that we didn't anticipate which was refreshing.

We also got a great visit with the Buchanan's and tolerated sitting next to them while they cheered for Texas Tech ;)  It was a tough loss, two weekends in a row, but we are having a blast rooting for all of our teams.  Who knew this much football would be such a good thing?

Now that Halloween is rapidly approaching, we are gearing up for "Halloween in Wedgewood".  I fully intend to capture the madness on video this year so everyone can enjoy the full effect of Halloween in our neighborhood.   Words truly cannot even begin to describe the happy chaos.

Hopefully I won't go so long between posts this next time.  I am thinking we should have some fun events coming up between Tech homecoming, Halloween in Wedgewood and then of course, all of the fun holidays that will be here before we know it.

Thanks for hanging in there and continuing to check the blog, even when I don't do a great job updating!!!
