This weekend I attended my 2nd ever Holiday in the Pines Parade. I love parades, I guess living in San Antonio and celebrating Fiesta really trained me to love free candy. The weather was great and after a hard day of Christmas decorating for me and studying for Grayson, we decided to let loose and have some fun.
We definitely ate our fair share of free candy. There were plenty of kiddos around us whom we helped get the goods, but for every 5 candies in their bag, I took a little interest for my own!
One of the prizes ... who doesn't need a straw cowboy hat?
There was even a Mardi Gras themed float. But watch out, if you weren't paying attention to this float, one could easily find whelps obtained by the heavy beads that were distributed.
Elvis made a stop in Jonesboro, singing Christmas carols no less.
There were numerous high school bands that played, all of them excellent.
My favorite part of this specific parade is the fact that all of the girls who made Homecoming Court get to ride in a car. The Weston, Jonesboro-Hodge and Quitman courts each are represented. The hood and general theme of the car always match the girl's dress.

I will admit it was rather chilly this day ... and if you look close enough

you can actually see the jeans underneath to keep her warm. Smart girl!

This was my favorite "float" of the night. It was getting close to dusk and so the lights were really starting to shine. They did a great job and we had a blast at this year's parade.

Next year we'll try to remember to stay for the fireworks. We heard they were awesome. Oh and don't forget, anyone and everyone is always invited!!!
