First Taste of Fall

So this morning when I woke up, as always, I immediately checked the thermostat by my bed to get an instant read on the outside temp. I was delighted to find the numbers 6 and 2 degrees! Whoah baby, now that's something nice to wake up to. I immediately went to our back door, knowing that after a night on the town TC would want to come in for some food & water. Just like I expected, there she was waiting for me to let her in. So while attending to her needs I decided to sit down on our bench swing and enjoy the cool morning air for a few minutes before rushing to start my day. Had I not snoozed for 45 minutes maybe I could have afforded to take a little more time this morning to enjoy the cool weather, maybe a cup of coffee and a nice morning devotional. But alas, the snooze button won the best of me.

That's not the only yummy taste of fall I've had lately. I read through a Paula Deen magazine the other day and can you believe that the outside cover was decorated in orange and black. How can it be that school just started and we're already decorating for the last day of October? That's weird.

Another taste of fall was a wreath I saw on some door while driving around town. Instead of being solely Halloween-ed out, it was more "fall colors" and looked gorgeous. That made me really feel like fall is coming.

I'm not sure I'm ready to say goodbye to summer, simply because once again we made it to the lake only one time, I didn't work on my tan more than just on the cruise we took, I haven't really worn out my white sandals, I still have a few good wears on my white linen slacks, we didn't really grill too many burgers outside (due to mosquitos mostly) and I'm just not sure I'm ready to give up 8:30pm sunsets. BUT, I can tell you that come school starting here at Tech after Labor Day that I think I'll be ready to put away the summer and put on the fall. Don't even get me thinking about pumpkin spice lattes from Starbucks, fall scented candles, wearing long sleeve t-shirts outside, jogging in cooler weather, football games or anything in the shade of cream, brown, orange or yellow (my favs!)

I will stop myself there and continue enjoying the summer season until fall is directly upon us!
