Halloween in Wedgewood

We had an extremely successful Halloween this year.  This was the first year that both Grayson and I were actually at the house at the same time.  This is our fourth year to live in Wedgewood so it was fun to experience this together.
Initially, Barkley was going to be "Wonder Woman" and she was going to be the pun of our joke.  Grayson and I dressed up as "Saints Fans" and we were going to carry her around and let her be the superhero that would come and save the Saint's season.  But ... all the tool got a little itchy and so we reverted to plan B and we all just dressed as Saints fans.
Thankfully, we had some help this year.  Logan came over to help pass out candy and experience a little bit of the Wedgewood chaos.  I think we will enlist the help of others from now on.  It made it much more enjoyable to pass out all the candy and wasn't near as overwhelming as it has been in the past.
Here they are handing out some candy.  The trick-or-treaters were very good about lining up and waiting their turn.  I will say that Grayson and Logan were very good at sticking to our new rule of "1 piece of candy/person."  I buckled under the glaring eye of the kids every time and wound up passing out handfuls at a time. We got a lot of confused looks from a few princesses, ninjas and transformers when they realized they were really only getting 1 piece of candy ... see ya later, Happy Halloween, move on to the next house!
A panorama shot of our street.  We are lucky no little kids got ran over!  There were cars backed up like that all night long!
I would now like to share some of my favorite quotes from the evening.  Granted, you can't hear the sarcasm or inflection in my voice, so please use your creativity to add it as needed ...

#1.  A little girl came up wearing a spotted leotard.  It was a black leotard with brownish dots all over it.  It was a one shoulder ensemble with brownish/black tights.  Being the fun candy passer-outers that we were, we were constantly trying to guess the costumes and unfortunately got them wrong on a number of occasions.  On this specific incident though, Grayson got it really wrong and I suppose offended the little girl.

Grayson: "Oh ... are you a giraffe?" (which was actually a really good guess based on the spots in her costume)
Little Girl w/ serious attitude: "No. I'm Pebbles." (insert raised eyebrows looking at him like he is CUH-RAZY!)
Grayson: OOOOOkay then. (end scene)

#2.  Due to the fact that replica NFL jerseys can be quite costly, we opted to purchase the jerseys of players who aren't actually on the team anymore.  Grayson was Reggie Bush and I was Shockey.  It was alarming the number of people who called us out on this.  We decided to start telling people we were the Ghosts of Superbowls past.  Not sure it went over very well, but at least we were prepared for a response when people started poking fun.

#3.  Logan, being polite as always, inquired to a little girl what kind of princess she was.  She replied that she was in fact, not a princess, but rather a "dark angel".  WHAT?  Seriously???  She had wings, she had a halo, she had a tool skirt on!  Where do people get these costume ideas???

#4. Last and definitely not least ... at the end of the night when we ran out of candy and were heading inside to grab dinner, our doorbell rang.  As we went to the door and began to tell the kiddos 'Sorry, we are all out of candy' one brave little girl piped up and said, "Well then you need to turn your porch light off."  (insert open jaw here) We cracked up b/c she was right, but to have the gawl to say it!!!  We were rolling.

There were tons of other funny moments that can't be conveyed properly via blog.  If you want to have some fun next year, come to our house.  I guarantee you will not leave without having had a good laugh.
