I totally forgot to blog about our Memorial Day BBQ! Larkin invited all of our supper club over to celebrate Memorial Day at their new house. Unfortunately, this was the Monday before Grayson's exam and so I attended alone, but still had so much fun.
This was the first time in my life I've ever really felt "grown-up". Graduating from college didn't do it, getting my Master's didn't really do it either; getting married sort of did, but I still felt like I was just playing house. I assumed purchasing our first home together would make me feel like an adult, but it wasn't until this BBQ that I had my first "moment" where I went, "Wow. We are the adults here."
This picture semi-sums up why I felt this way. All the guys were in the yard either blowing up swimming pools, adjusting the slip-n-slide or making sure the kids didn't drown, while the girls were either chatting under the shade or inside getting food ready to eat. There were kids running around laughing and having so much fun that I guess it reminded me of when I was a little kid playing just like them. It was a surreal moment and one that was really fun to experience.
We hung out that afternoon and then Ben grilled some yummy burgers for everyone. The weather was great and the company even better. It was a fun glimpse of all the many get-togethers and memoreis that are yet to be made!
