Day 9: My CHS Besties (go Eagles!)
Right after graduation, Julee Guinn (aka: Gools, Jewels) created the best email group ever. She made the infamous "My CHS Buddies" email group for the sole purpose of allowing us to keep in touch with each other all across the state of Texas. We were stationed at TCU, Baylor and A&M and needed a way to communicate. Because of that email group and the ease associated with sending one email to update 5 people, this group of CHS besties has been able to stay in touch and connected as if we lived in the same city.
We've celebrated numerous New Year's Eve's together. This was our first NYE after going away to college.
We travel all over for our CHS Buddy Reunions. Jill got married earlier than the rest of us, so we took a trip to Oklahoma City for Christmas one year. We've made a point to change our locations each get-together so that we can see where everyone lives and see different cities.
For the next couple of years, our reunions were made possible due to wedding season! We were in each other's weddings and thus made reuniting that much easier! No need for destinations. We survived Hurricane Ike in Dallas one year! This was the "reunion of babes" where we got to meet the two newest additions to our club all while making some pretty hysterical memories in Dallas.
The last few reunions haven't been complete due to greater physical distance between us, work schedules and needing to visit our primary families, but we do the best we can. We squeezed in a quick trip to Dallas last year to meet the second addition of babies; only the youngters came on this trip.

And of course, anytime anyone is in San Antonio we try to squeeze in at least a 30 minute visit to the local Starbucks.
This past summer, we had a mini-mini-reunion with Gools and Jill (Flood and Cutee, you were missed!!!).

I really am thankful for Castle Hills and the small classes it offered, the fact that students attended k-12th grade which made developing deep relationships that much easier. I am thankful for our cheerleading squad (sorry, Gools) and the experiences we made together there. I am already looking forward to a much needed, full-blown CHS Besties Reunion (hopefully in the next year!)
