I have officially started my last year as a twenty-something and you know what? I'm pretty excited about it. Birthdays aren't really a huge deal for me, but I felt extremely loved and celebrated (like always) on this 29th birthday.
I started the celebration a little early with my work crew. A lady at work who drew my name made the best cherry pie-cake thingy. It was delicious. She also got me the new Francine River's book "My Daughter's Dream" that I'm dying to start reading. Then we went to one of my most favorite restaurants in town that I often forget about, Hot Rods. The best bar-b-que in town, IMO. We stuffed ourselves there and then headed back for a relaxing afternoon at work. All of that and it was still one day before my birthday!!!
When I got home, I was feeling up to a run (random, I know), so assuming Grayson and I wouldn't be doing anything that evening I headed out for a 5 miler! Unbeknownst to me, Grayson had planned for us to eat a nice dinner out that evening and my desire to exercise almost messed up those plans! We were still able to go to RAW in town and had a lovely dinner as we watched the sushi makers work hard to prep everyone's sushi orders. It was a low-key night, but we both very much enjoyed our meals. We attempted to watch "Alice in Wonderland", but both fell asleep by 10:30!
All along we had planned to head to Shreveport on Saturday to go shopping and eat abirthday meal out (is anyone else noticing a theme that all I did to celebrate my bday was eat?). The weather almost deturred me from going shopping b/c it was pouring down rain with a cool front pushing through. But, we determined to be hard core shoppers and we braved the storm. I took my personal shopper with me (ie: Grayson) and off we went. We made a full day of it and now my closet is appropriately stocked with work clothes and a few "fun" clothes for the weekends. On a side note, if anyone is interested in doing a multi-family garage sale this spring, I'm in. After sorting through clothes in my closet I'm about ready to sell a few items. Back to Saturday though, we ate at Macaronni Grill, another of my favorites and I introduced Grayson to the lemon passion dessert. Typically I am a chocolate lover, but every time I go there (often to celebrate my birthday) I always always always get the lemon passion cake. It is phenomenal ... try it.
Then on Sunday, my birthday "hangover" came to a crashing halt. I was brought back to reality by the fact that our house looked like a disaster zone that we could no longer function in. What set me off to this fact was when I saw Grayson picking up clothes and attempting to tidy. You know your house is in bad shape when your husband starts cleaning! Whoops! So ... I set to work on my household duties while Grayson went to the bank to get ready for work this week. I worked from early until late and now our house is CLEAN!!! I don't know why I always do that? It would make more sense to clean a little each day, but instead I spend about 6-7 hours in one day cleaning everything and then wait a while to do it again. Whatever, it works!
Tonight I am going to dinner with some of my best girl friends in Ruston at Ronin Hibachi grill. I am so excited about this b/c it's a fantastic group of girls who I've come to love and really cherish. After dinner a few of us are of course, going to watch The Bachelor and then make our predictions for next week. So really, I couldn't have asked for a better birthday weekend than the one I got! Here's to my last year as a twenty-something and hopefully making it a great year!!!
