Relay for Life.

I'm a tad behind, but I wanted to at least post about our most recent 5k. Every year Jonesboro helps to raise money for the American Cancer Society by putting on the Relay for Life, among other events. I've included a pic of Grayson running this 5k a few years ago to refresh your memories.

This year since I was training for my half-marathon we decided to include the 5k as part of the training plan. It was a cold morning and I was supposed to run 8 miles for my long run, so we spent the night in Jonesboro so I could get up and at'em first thing Saturday morning. I ran 5 miles to the starting line where I met Grayson and then he and I completed the 5k together. There were 80 participants out to have a good time that morning. The highlight for me was coming in 1st place for the women's division and 7th overall. I set a PR for my 5k by running my fastest miles yet! You guys know I am by no means a runner, but this was a major ego boost and encouraged me to go ahead and keep trucking with my half-marathon training.

After the race, we headed back north to get ready for Tech's homecoming game. Sadly, there was no Womanless Beauty Pageant for Grayson to compete in this year, but what's that to stop me from reminiscing and posting this pick anyways!

The things you can do to raise awareness for a good cause!
