Cost vs. Reward Jumbler.

The older I get the more I realize how much of an extrovert I truly am. I love talking, I love processing, I love communicating and I love to do all of this with other people. In the "working world", I've also come to learn that a lot of this activity is done over a good cup of coffee. Lately though I've realized that my coffee drinking may be taking a toll on my teeth. So I'm left with a difficult decision ... one where I have to weigh the cost vs. the reward very carefully. Do I or don't I stop drinking coffee?

Here are my jumbled up thoughts ... If I continue to drink coffee I may stain my teeth (cost), but I will get an energy fix (reward) and I can still remain involved in the social going-ons of work (reward), but then I'm actually losing out on the money we spent to have my teeth whitened in the first place (cost) and my teeth will be yellow (major cost). It's actually a very difficult decision for me.
What would I order at Starbucks if I stopped drinking coffee? Where would I meet people to catch up and visit? What would I do with my hands in Sunday school without a styrofoam cup to hold? What would I drink in the winter when it's freezing cold outside? And don't say "hot tea" people because tea is in fact dark colored and if I'm really going to do this whole "stop drinking coffee thing" then really I should go full out and stop drinking anything that could potentially stain my teeth. Sadly, that list would include coffee, tea, cokes, red wine, hot chocolate .... Ahh, the list could go on and on!!!! Well, then what would I drink ... water? Wouldn't that get boring? How do healthy people drink that stuff and nothing else? I can't even do crystal light anymore because of the "fake sugar causes cancer theory". So really, what would I drink?
So I guess I have to ask myself what is the greater reward here? That's going to take some pondering.

You don't have to give it up. I am a die-hard Diet Coke drinker. I just use those whitening strips once a year and voila!- white teeth again. :)

And I am happy to have found your blog. I'm adding you to my blog roll!
