Pittsburgh, Pa

Grayson and I just returned from a trip to Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania. We headed up there to visit Dave & Kristen, to see a little bit more about their new lives as Northerners. We had so much fun! We ran into a little trouble at the Alexandria airport with our flight getting delayed 3 hours, but we turned lemons into lemonade by opting to spend our time eating at Schlotzky's :) After arriving at our final destination 3.5 hours later than anticipated, we were greeted by our dear friends, the Buchanan's.

We stayed up way later than normal, talking about anything and everything in our lives. Their loft apartment is set in a really awesome urban area in Pittsburgh so we definitely got our "city fix." On Saturday we visited various districts in the area, window shopped and watched some football. In an attempt to warm ourselves up after being in the cool weather, we stopped at Caribou Coffee and found these nifty coffee slips. They are made of yarn, so I'm sure anyone who is remotely crafty could make them, but I decided to purchase it instead making it my souvenir from Pittsburgh.

Above: I obviously didn't get the memo to show my nifty slip.
Below: It's my favorite color green! So cute & crafty.
Well, while waiting to head out to the Notre Dame/Pitt game, we decided to set up our own little sports bar with numerous tv's going. This setup actually worked and kept us current on all important games of the day. Grayson and Dave were probably in sports heaven.
I'm sure most of you know, but if not, Grayson got his master's from Notre Dame which is why we decided to take the opportunity to attend this game and cheer for the Fighting Irish. We've been to three games total (together) and we hope to keep adding to that number. It worked out perfectly that ND played an away game which made getting tickets that much easier.
Our seats allowed me to capture part of the skyline of downtown Pitt. It's a town known for its steel mills etc ... but was actually a very pretty city with all of its' bridges, fancy new buildings and waterways. Definitely worth visiting.
Anyways, back to the game. We assumed that the ND band would travel, but for some reason they didn't. We practiced our cheers and hand motions and everything! Oh well, Pitt did a cool half-time show (I guess).
The Leprechaun made it though!
We had so much fun visiting the Buchanan's and are already looking forward to our next reunion ... maybe somewhere with sno and skiis? Thanks for hosting us friends!
