Whirlwind Weekend

For those of you who are also on facebook, I apologize if some of these photos look familiar. I tried to add more of the storyline about our trip via the blog, so hopefully it's not too repetitive.

This past weekend we made a quick trip down to San Antonio to celebrate our nephew's/my godchild's baptism. We had so much fun! We spent a lazy Saturday at Erin's parent's house where I got in some good cuddle time with Easton. He was so relaxed enjoying the cool breeze. He has grown so much and is still as cute as ever.

Erin bought him a swim outfit which was so cute. They didn't really have his size, but she made it work. The hat was huge on him, but to avoid sunburn we made him wear it...and he hated it!
Thoughts were that he didn't like the water seeing as how this was his first time swimming, but in reality it was the hat he didn't so much care for because as soon as we took the hat off he calmed down and was okay with the water. But as soon as we added another "accessory" (the shades) back came the tears. Apparently, Easton is a minimalist when it comes to his choice of clothing apparel. I'm glad to say this was one of only 2 times I heard him cry all weekend.
The Schuchart's grilled up some delicious burgers, accompanied by freshly grown tomatoes, lettuce and squash. It was delicious, as we were starving after swimming in the pool for most of the afternoon.
I forget what this plant is called, but I thought it was pretty so I stuck it in here. Erin's mom is a great gardener and she had all sorts of plants around their house. I was very much inspired to do the same!
Nonnie enjoying some fun of her own on the 4-wheeler.
In addition to swimming Saturday afternoon, we got to kill some snakes near the tank. How many people do you think it takes to kill a few snakes? Apparently, everyone (minus Erin, Easton and me).
Dale (Erin's dad) raises catfish in the tank. This was just one of four HUMONGOUS catfish he has. They each easily weigh 20-25 pounds. I don't really care for fish, but these were very cool.
Then we got to feed the cows. Yes, there are cows out there too. Probably 40-50 of them. I mostly stayed on top of the kabota while everyone else fed ... how else would I have captured the event? Let's just say there was a lot of peeing, mooing and stinky smells to go around.
Grayson enjoyed his first experience with the cattle.
Then came Sunday, the real reason for our visit...Easton's baptism. He did such a great job. The outfit he is wearing was actually worn by Erin's dad and her two brothers. The outfit has major history and looked great on E. He originally had a white onesie on underneath, but we found out that wasn't allowed a mere 2 minutes prior to the start and so in a rapid rush to get it off Erin had to pull his arms and legs in different directions. He obviously cried during that segment, but then afterward he went to sleep like a champ!

I wanted to make sure to demonstrate the great videography skills Grayson implemented this weekend. His sole task was to capture the entire event on film and I think he did a pretty good job.
Easton slept throughout the entire ceremony.
Here we all are afterwards.
In addition to Easton wearing the gown, he also wore a tiny gold ring that his grandpa and uncles also wore at their baptisms. It was so tiny and it matched Matthew's. I thought it was too precious not to photograph!
Both families together.

The weekend ended with a lovely brunch back at Erin's house where Grayson and I grabbed some food and then hit the road. We got into Jonesboro around midnight only to return to a broken AC unit. The last two nights have been quite the adventure for us. Let's just say that we are much more appreciative of air conditioning after having gone two hot nights without it. All in all it was a wonderful trip and we are so glad we made it!

I want to tell you that you have excellent photography skills. The pictures look great. I'm sure they were made easy with an adorable baby in them. I'm sad you got to go to san antonio, but I hope you me and jewels can get something together in July. Love you.
