Since I can't be at the hospital enjoying the live version of Easton's entry into the world, I figured I would do my part of announcing it to everyone else who couldn't be there either.
I was able to keep in touch with Matthew throughout the whole process. It actually started this morning around 5:30am when I received two phone calls from my mom. Unfortunately, my ring tone sounds exactly like my alarm tone and so instead of answering the phone, I pushed end thinking it was the snooze button. (Whoops!) Sensing that I wasn't quite all about my wits that early, my mom thought better and waited until about 7:30am to call back and inform me that today would be the day!!! I then spoke with Matthew around 9am and got the full details. They are as follows:
1:00am Erin wakes up because her back is feeling "a little tight"
3:00am Labor has officially begun (you know what I mean people)
5:00am Matthew showers, waters the plants, feeds the dogs and turns on sportscenter to catch up on the latest March Madness results. Erin thinks watching some tv might help her relax. They determine to chill at the house for the morning.
7:30am They decide even though she isn't in tons of pain that it might be smart to head to the hospital simply to avoid traffic. For those of you who have ever lived in San Antonio and have dealt with the horrible morning rush hour traffic, you can appreciate the wisdom in that decision.
8:00am They check in at the hospital only to realize she is dialated 9cm!
10:02am After minimal effort on Erin's part (ie: 2 pushes), Easton arrives into our world!
I have been assured this process is not necessarily "the norm", but due to Erin's unnaturally high threshold for pain she was able to withstand much of the pressure outside of the hospital. I have since spoken to the happy Mom and Dad and they are super proud, excited and surprisingly not exhausted. Still no word on what my parents will be called as grandparents ... I guess they have to decide soon though! I made a point to teach my mom how to upload photos to the computer last time I was in town, so hopefully our efforts will pay off and I'll have some new pics to add soon!
I suppose this brings us to a close for for Baby Boom 09. Erin capped the season off well. I think we have about 15 tiny new friends to spend some time with this spring/summer. More photos to follow!
