Whirlwind of a trip!

I hate to disappoint so be aware that I took very few pictures this past weekend while in San Antonio. It was such a whirlwind going from here to there that pulling out the camera didn't happen quite like I envisioned. I'll just have to step up my "writing skillz" and create a vivid picture using only words. (ha, yeah right!)

The weekend began on a sour foot with me almost missing my flight. We tried out a new airport this trip and due to the smallness of it, I didn't realize that the person who would check my luggage would also be the same person who checked me onto the plane and the same person that would fly with us to Houston. Oops! Thanks to early check-in and new flight regulations, I was saved and allowed to run from the baggage area to the tarmac. Not embarrassing at all! Once on the plane with my heartrate lowered, I got comfy and started in on a new book.

I arrived to San Antonio in record time and we headed straight for the rodeo. It was the finals and I was way impressed with everything. We, of course, got the traditional food: sausage wrap, hot dogs and funnel cake. It was delicious! We then trekked into the arena and watched some of the best rodeo-ing I've seen in a few years. While the rodeo was great, I was a party-pooper and left before Montgomery Gentry went on; I heard they were great though.

The next day was full of fun trips. I saw Easton's (our soon to be nephew's) nursery, my brother and sister-in-laws house plans and the land where they intend to build. It was beautiful and I can't wait for them to break ground and let us know how wonderful or not-so-wonderful building a home can be. We then headed to Macaronni Grill and indulged ourselves in three desserts to celebrate mine and Erin's pending birthdays. After stuffing ourselves, and loving every second of it, we headed back for some pampering. Nothing beats a mani/pedi from Ann's Nails! The evening got even better when me and my parents sat down for a night of viewing pleasure. We watched both True Beauty and The Bachelor and made predictions the whole way through.

Let's see ... the next day was full of shopping. I found a pinata for my bday bbq and was reminded at how wonderful The Market is in San Antonio. Grayson may not know it yet, but the next time we're in SA we will definitely be purchasing some fancy glasses for our kitchen. We made a trip to the RIM which surprisingly was traffic free :) After all that, we were pooped and went home to do some exercising and more tv watching. Dinner was wonderful because it was homemade. It was great to be back in the rhythm of setting and clearing the table and helping cook. It's different to go home as an adult and do those things that your parents begged you to do when you were younger. Definitely surreal.

The next day came too quickly and before I knew it I was back at the airport reading my great book again. I made it back home safely (thanks to Mammaw and Pappaw) and was greatly surprised to find that my husband had blessed me beyond measure while I was gone. To his credit, he had my car detailed (inside and out), he deep cleaned the bathroom (no easy feat), he emptied the dishwasher (something he loathes), he warmed up a stew THAT HE COOKED, and he made sure the candles were going so the house would smell "pretty". I was floored and so thankful. There is nothing better for me than to come home to a clean house after a long trip. I told him I should go away more often, but he disagreed!

Next time we visit San Antonio there will be a new little one to love on! And for all of you San Antonians that I didn't get to visit ... sorry! Hopefully next time there will be more time to visit!
