We wanted to let everyone know that we are safe and sound here in Jonesboro, despite the heavy effects we are feeling from Hurricane Gustav.
We were actually in Fort Worth this past weekend, very much enjoying ourselves at Dave & Kristen's wedding. It wasn't until our drive home that we became engrossed with updates from the weather channel and Fox News satellite broadcast stations. The progression of the storm has been our main focus from Sunday until now. Thankfully we are all safe! There hasn't been too much flooding around here, mostly trees down, powerlines affected and lots of debris. Our cell phones are just now starting to get reception again and power is slowly but surely coming back on. The response in Jonesboro and northern Louisiana has been amazing. I know of at least 2-3 shelters in Jonesboro that are helping evacuees as well as our church in Ruston and others in the area. Despite longer lines at Walmart and having to wear rain gear, we really can't complain.
Thank you for those of you who have either called or emailed to inquire about us, we really appreciate the concern. We are mostly thankful that the storm wasn't worse and that the state of Louisiana did such a phenomenal job at evacuating people in order to protect all of those precious lives. For now we expect to be back at work tomorrow with things running as scheduled. We'll keep everyone posted if things change!
