Lately, Grayson and I have been able to attend church more regularly due to our being in town more often. We have also really enjoyed attending the Discovery Class for new members because as we learn more about the church, why it was started and about its' purpose & mission, we both feel more dedicated to the cause. And as an added bonus of regular attendance, we are able to engage in worship each week (which admittedly is my favorite)!
Lately, the worship team has begun singing old hymns. We sang this song the last time we attended and ever since then it has resonated in my heart and mind. It was such a sweet time in the service because as the chorus was sung and hands were raised, chills went through me as I pictured the church in heaven praising Jesus. It was so refreshing to be surrounded by other believers, singing and reminding ourselves that no matter what is going on in life that it should always be Well with our Souls. I suppose that after graduating from school, getting married, moving to a new town and getting a job it is nice to finally be able to sing this song with purpose and know that I can honestly state that it is well with my soul.
These are a few excerpts from my favorite parts ...
My sin, not in part but the whole,
Is nailed to the cross,
and I bear it no more,
Praise the Lord,
praise the Lord, O my soul!
And Lord, haste the day
when my faith shall be sight,
The clouds be rolled back as a scroll;
The trump shall resound,
and the Lord shall descend,
Even so, it is well with my soul.
