We are Redeemed!

After a strong conviction to spend more time in God's Word, Grayson and I have been trying to be obedient (although we're not always successful at this). We have been refreshed to find so many bits of wisdom and reminders of God's faithfulness to us during our time together in His word. Seeing as how I'm in Deuteronomy right now, you can understand my joy to run across a gem of knowledge from the Lord hidden within all of the rules and regulations set for the Israelites prior to their entering the Promised Land.

"Always remember that you were slaves in Egypt and that the LORD your God redeemed you..." Deut. 24:18a

We sat together after reading over that Scripture and we allowed the Lord to encourage us, right where we were. We realized that we are so often like the Israelites, forgetting all that the Lord has done and is capable of doing. It can become so easy to forget that we are no longer slaves, that we are no longer being persecuted, destroyed and beaten down. Instead, the Lord wants us to remember that we are redeemed by the Lord! Not redeemed by ourselves, our works or anything that we've done, rather it is the Lord God who brought us out of our sin. We were challenged to start living like the redeemed, living like children of Christ who walk in the freedom that He allotted for us by dying on the cross.

There is much to be said for waking up and realizing the full redemption that we have in Christ. This is only a morsel of the truth that is available to us in God's word and so we pray that you are spurred on, as we were, to press in deep and to allow your roots to go deep into the never ending supply of living water. May we each walk alongside each other during this life and shoulder the burdens and joys that life brings our way.
