Distance Makes a Heart Grow Fonder

Living in Louisiana means that we now live over 250 miles away from some of our dearest friends in Fort Worth. I (Ashley) love nothing more than to keep in touch w/ friends ... it's actually one of my heart's passions. I don't think that distance should ever be a reason for a relationship to suffer, but being so far away does make connecting more difficult. As if being long distance weren't hard enough, now it seems that everyone has grown up and busied themselves with grown-up living.

One solution to this problem is to leave the longest voice messages possible on any recording you can find. One of my best friends and I have actually gone the past month without talking in "real life" (as we like to call it), yet I don't feel like I've missed out on anything that's going on in her life because of our voicemail chats.

Finally, after one month of leaving and listening to 12 minute long voicemails we finally were able to talk again! It was just like old times when we lived in the Greene house together. Talking with Meg is like breathing fresh air in a musty room. She always gives me words of wisdom and most importantly, she always points my focus and direction back to Christ. There is nothing more I could ask of in a friend than to consistently point me in the one direction on which I can stand firmly. To summarize my newest life lesson: although living in Louisiana means I don't live 15 minutes away from my BFF, it doesn't have to mean that it can't feel like it!

You are the sweetest... you always make me feel so special! I live for those voice mails and I wouldn't trade our friendship for anything. Love you!
