Anyone remember the 2006 movie with Matthew McConaughey where he played the role of famous head coach Jack Lengyel?
The story goes that after a fatal plane crash that took the lives of 75 football players, coaches, boosters and air personnel, Coach Lengyel was chosen as Head Coach at Marshall University with the charge of bringing back a hurting football program to a devastated town. It was a moving movie that depicted the faith, hope and perseverance of Coach Lengyel and the foundation he laid for a highly successful football program.
Well, last night Coach Lengyel came to speak to the students at Tech. I had the privilege of eating dinner with him and getting to know him a little better. An amazing man with strong convictions and an ability to create solutions in difficult circumstances, he presented a powerful message to our students. He was hands down the best speaker we've had and it was an honor to host him while at Tech.
