We purchased our home a little over two years ago, making this the 3rd Halloween experience at our new house. Based on the suggestions of neighbors and friends though, I haved avoided "Halloween in Wedgewood" the past two years by going out of town. Well, this year we decided to stick it out and experience Halloween and now I see what everyone was talking about! RIDICULOUSNESS!!!
I wish I would have had a camera to capture the scene. Our tiny little street was covered with mobs of little kids dressed in crazy outfits. Cars honking, lights flashing, parents yelling at their kids, kids running and screaming from house to house. It was awesome! Next year, I fully intend to film the madness so that everyone can experience it too. I won't say how much we spent on candy, but let's just say it was enough to warrant its own line on our itemized budget!
The kids were sooooo cute and funny. Read my favorite convo below. Let me preface by saying the rule at our house is you have to tell us your costume to get the candy.
Ashley: "Well who are you tonight?"
Little Girl: "Sarah"
Ashley: (thinking, hmm ... I must be really out of the loop b/c I don't recognize any characters with that name)
"Oh really? Sarah what?"
Little Girl: "Sarah (insert real life last name)" followed by a look that said "Dummy".
Ashley: "Oh, okay. Happy Halloween."
It was funnier in real life people. We mostly saw ninja's, Cleopatra's, batman's and country girls wearing pink. The only real hazard of the evening was almost getting my eye poked out as I bent over for the candy and a little boy decided to swing his sword in excitement.
Barkley Lou got dressed up for the occassion as well. She caused quite the distraction for most of the kids. Turns out kids are actually more interested in petting dogs than in raking in candy. B-dog did great and let all the little kiddies pet and love on her.
I wasn't in San Antonio for Halloween, but did steal these pics off facebook. You can see there was a ballerina and a deer hunter making the rounds and being super cute.
E even camoflauged his face! You can never be too careful when hunting for deer!
I busted out laughing when I saw this pic. I only wish I could have been there for the set-up and masacre of Bambi, which inevidably ensued after this pic was taken.
