I don't think you could have missed the fact that the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge were in North America over the past two weeks. Between all of the press coverage and my slight obsessive interest in them, I made a few observations ...
1. I love how I never saw Kate wear a watch. It made me feel like time wasn't an issue to her. While it's not something I could get away with, I enjoyed the simplicity in her accessorizing. Less was more for her on this trip and I think it worked.
2. I enjoyed her small clutches over the ginormously bulky bags that so many celebrities carry these days. One day they will inevitably ruin their posture and seriously, is there really anything in those bags? With a clutch, you are forced to decide what is truly important. I like the idea of only taking the necessities.
3. Does she wear panty hose or is that the natural sheen of her legs? Thankfully, that question was answered for me today by people magazine. I was ready to buy whatever lotion she used to get the same effect, but I have since discovered that it's panty hose. I'm not sure if I'm quite ready to take that plunge. Supposedly, she is starting a trend; I'll wait and see if I hop on board.
Speaking of trend setting, I am loving the "message" spoken in her trend setting. Simplicity, frugality, modesty, elegance, down-to-earthness. All of these combined have a way of creating a beautiful style in my opinion. I think it's important that women see that you can be modest, classy and elegant and still have style and express yourself. I realize that some of her fashion sense is probably influenced by her status as a royal family member and therefore she must follow clothing protocol, but part of me believes that even though she has hit celebrity status, she is still down to earth and relatable. I digress ...
4. Please note her cream shoes. I LOVE how Kate re-wears her clothing. Magazines use the fancy term that Kate "re-purposes" her outfits, but give-me-a-break. This girl is not afraid to re-wear things she has already worn (even from seasons and seasons ago, GASP) which makes me feel like I can totally relate to her. She is making normal, cool :)
Case in point: this is the cream dress she wore in her engagement picture. While one magazine claims she "repurposed" it, all I see is that she changed shoes and added a hat. Heck, even I can do that!
5. Yes, she even re-wore earrings that she has had for at least 2-3 years. Again, I love the simplicity and the daintiness of them and her willingness to "buck the system" and re-wear. Maybe it's a conscious move to show that she is aware of the current economic status andthe importance of frugality or maybe it is just who she really is deep inside? I choose to believe the latter.
6. Hear she is wearing her nude shoes again. This little jaunt of hers was a good lesson for me to see how one can pack "lightly" for a trip. She wore mostly navy and cream outfits with a few pops of color. She re-wore these cream shoes and another pair of navy pumps for the majority of her trip. It helped to show me that it is possible to pack lightly, but still have variations in your clothing.7. They must not be germ-aphobic because the majority of pictures show them shaking hands with people. I have to use hand sanitizer after merely looking at the pictures so I can't even imagine what it must be like to actually shake the hands of people they don't know (and have no idea what they touched prior).

You are such a good writer! I love this post about the Royal couple. Great details- I had no idea she wore panty hose. I need her nude shoes, any idea where they are from?
