Another impromptu trip that I took was a quick visit to Dallas to reunite with my high school besties. Jill, Julee, Kathryn, (Flood was up in Connecticut) and I have made it a point to have these little reunions ever since we graduated from college. For a while there, everyone was getting married which made these reunions much easier, but since then we have all either moved, gotten jobs, had kids etc ... all together settling into adult living. Via emails we randomly decided to make a quick trip to Dallas to spend some QT together prior the holiday hustle and bustle.
Thanks to a great deal on priceline, we stayed at an amazing hotel smack dab in the heart of Dallas. The room was large enough for all of us, and when I say the room was large, it had to be seeing as how we had four adults and three babies in tow!!! My friends in Ruston thought I was crazy when I mentioned the rooming situation, but it actually worked out really well. And when I say "really well", I mean that we got at least 5 hours of sleep! We had three pack-n-plays set up, we dimmed the lights and whispered late into the night after the babies went to sleep. It doesn't amaze me anymore, but it used to, how we don't see each other for months, sometimes years, and yet when we get together it is like no time has passed. This trip proved to be the same ... nothing like besties for life!
The only difference in this trip might have been that Joy, Clark and Kimber stole the show this time! But that's okay, they were a huge motivating factor for us to get together. We wanted to meet them and we wanted them to meet each other. In the 24 hours we had together, we actually accomplished a lot: we shopped at Northpark Mall, we ate a yummy dinner at the Cheesecake Factory, we had some great night time girl talk, we experienced an interesting night's sleep to say the least, we had a quickie breakfast the following morning at IHOP and managed a photo shoot with the big man himself, Santa!
Here we have Cutee Kat and Kimber, me, Jilly and Clarky, Gools and the Joybird.
I have no idea when we'll get together again, where it will be or what we will do, but I do know that none of that really matters. Just so long as we can talk and reconnect is all that we need to be happy.
