Looks like my daydreams from January are gonna come true sometime soon! A few weeks ago Grayson and I booked our summer vacation! We'll be taking (you guessed it) another cruise!!! I should know better than to never say never! I told myself I would not go on another cruise until we did some other type of vacation. Nothing fancy, just something different like sno-skiing in Colorado, a quick trip to Hot Springs, maybe even a beach trip to Destin. Just something different besides another cruise.
My husband is wonderful; I love him so much, but there are some areas where we differ greatly. One of them being our desire for variety. I hate to order the same entre over and over at a restaurant. I am the type who loves to try different dishes, see what else is on the menu and taste different things, whereas G would be fine ordering the same meal every single time he goes to a restaurant. Shoot, he ate at Chipotle at least 6 times a week when he lived in Fort Worth and never got tired of it. Apparently, he applies the same mentality to his vacations.
It doesn't help either that cruises really are economical. When you break it down to dollars spent per day (which you obviously do when you're married to my husband), it really is so much cheaper than any of the previously mentioned vacation ideas. It's hard to argue when the numbers are staring you in the face saying this is cheaper than that and you are getting more for your money.
In making the decision to take this vacation we did learn a lot about ourselves. I learned that I really value the locations or the ports that each cruise ship visits. Grayson, on the other hand, values the boat he rides to get there. He had no problem going to the same locations as long as he was on a different ship b/c he really cares about the boat/food/entertainment. For me though, I didn't see any point going back to the same places we have already visited. So, we made a compromise and are riding a different boat and going to a few different places. It should be fun and we are already doing a countdown until the vacation. Let's just pray he doesn't get poison ivy before we leave this time because we all remember how that one turned out!
