Chinese Calendar

Don't you think it's interesting how the Chinese Calendar titles each year? I'm not exactly sure what goes into their naming of each year, but we thought it would be fun to create our own marriage calendar, choosing to name each year we spend married using retrospect to summarize.

2006-2007
"The Year of Change"
Grayson moved back to Jonesboro and adjusted to living in a one room efficiency for four months, he started working in the banking industry, we got married, I then moved to Jonesboro, I finished graduate school and got my first real job. All within 6 months! You could say that CHANGE was definitely the theme of that year.

2007-2008
"The Year of the Cat"
I believe this year speaks for itself. We acquired TC by chance in August 2008 and invited her to become a part of our family. It started out with her eating food outside our home, to sleeping in the garage, to staying on the porch occasionally, to us paying for her to have surgery so she could sleep comfortably in our home with us in bed! Looking back, it's so ironic how I've grown to love our sweet TC and her quirky personality so much. Now if we could just get her socialized so she won't be so scared of people besides Grayson and me.
2008-2009
"The Year of the Ivy"
When attempting to recall our last year together and any major events or milestones, we both couldn't help but laugh at the fact that Grayson getting poison ivy was one of the more memorable events we experienced together. It's interesting how those 4-6 weeks made such an impact on our view of the last year! We already have some ideas about the next year and are anxious to see what unfolds!
Oh and on a side note, we ate a delicious dinner at Outback Steakhouse last night to celebrate our anniversary further. Most people have a special song that they title "theirs", well we have a restaurant. Outback seems to be the place we go to on most special occasions. When we lived in Fort Worth we celebrated the end of each busy season with a nice dinner at this restaurant, treating ourselves to their Chocolate Tower cake for dessert (which by the way, they no longer serve!). It's a place we love to go to treat ourselves and enjoy a nice date night together. Last night was no different! We enjoyed a good dinner and great service and are looking forward to going back!
And finally, I was informed that Grayson's leather gift to me is a new Bible! With my new name on it! I have been wanting a new Bible for some time, since mine is currently missing Genesis - Deuteronmy ... kind of important books! So, he assures me that my new black leather Bible with my new married name enscribed in gold (coloring) should arrive by the end of the week! I'm so excited and anxious to dive in and start highlighting, commenting and making it mine! There's nothing quite like personalizing a Bible and learning new things. I can hardly wait to sit on our porch swing at our new house, enjoying nature and God's word. Not much beats that!!!
