So, I turned 27 last week and it was wonderful. So far I love being 27. I like how it falls right between 25 and 30. It's a good number, I think, and so far it's been really good to me.
At work we celebrate all day long! I think we took somewhere between 3-4 coffee & cake breaks. In addition, I got to pick where we ate lunch, so of course I chose my favorite pizza buffet! I felt spoiled (and stuffed) by all of my co-workers who were super sweet and thoughtful.
The bday weekend went equally as well because Grayson helped me clean the entire house, he went grocery shopping with me and somehow we found time to get my nails done in Ruston! I can't think of a better gift than spending quality time with the one I love! In case you're wondering, his real gift to me is still in the mail! All I asked for for my birthday was that he finish up the requirements for his CPA license! He had everythine done except for one online quiz and then the added hassle of paperwork. When I suggested that this was all I wanted for my bday, he jumped at the idea. It was a win-win situation for us both!
Moving onto Sunday. Daylight savings didn't throw us off quite like we thought it would. We were up and at 'em bright and early with no problems, but that was probably only because we had a birthday bbq to get ready for! We had a great time with friends just enjoying the beautiful weather and good company.
Grayson and I got most everything set up the night before so we wouldn't have much to do on Sunday. He grilled the burgers and I set up the sides. We had more food than we knew what to do with! Leftovers really aren't a problem at our house though because it basically means no cooking for the week (which I love!).
I can't turn the pic of the cake so you'll have to tilt your head instead. This is the cute cookie cake that Traina's Bakery of Jonesboro made for us. We were both really impressed with how it turned out. They did a great job and it was delicious!!! We also enjoyed some of Mammaw's famous chocolate sheet cake!
We also enjoyed playing Thurston's baggo. If you've never played, you are missing out. We could play for hours and hours on something so mindless. It really is fun and relaxing. We intend to get very good over the summer to make sure we're in prime condition come football season.
Lastly, we definitely had a pinata at the bday bbq. Or a "piata" as one of our younger guests called it. Being from San Antonio, I grew up with a pinata at most all events ... halloween, birthdays and random family get-to-gethers. I took for granted that I understand the rules of pinata because when I came home from church and saw the burro hanging in the tree instead of levered, I realized that maybe Grayson didn't quite understand the concept. After making a few changes and adding some length to the rope to keep Grayson from getting his face knocked in, we were set up and ready for some fun. We had a great time. I also quickly remembered that pinatas are mostly fun for those watching, not so much for the ones hitting!
